We invite youth to May meetings with Literature

In may participants in literary events will be offered a rich programme: from the Jan Błoński Festival, through workshops, events for children, meet-the-author series, to book-crossing events. We invite you to a column-writing workshop under the Creative Writing Course. This time you will meet the writer who is not afraid to deal with important themes – Sylwia Chutnik, who will share her expertise about how to write a good feature article. The Miłosz Festival invites you to a free two-day workshop for bloggers and critics to be held in Krakow on 20 and 21 May. The workshop will be run by Paulina Małochleb – a literary critic and researcher, the Secretary of the Wisława Szymborska Award. This spring month will also offer a perfect opportunity for refreshing your book collection while on a walk to the Vistula, taking part in The Second Life of a Book at Powiśle 11 Pavilion. Until October passengers of municipal transport can also use unique bus/tram stop shelters which were set up on the occasion of the World Book and Copyright Day and. Find bus/tram stops decorated in honour of Krakow’s prominent literary figures: Joseph Conrad, the Krakow Avant-Garde, Stanisław Lem and Stanisław Wyspiański. The stops have been designed by outstanding artists and are scattered around the city.

  • 14 May on 11:00 am – UNESCO City of Literature Creative Writing Course

A workshop in column writing will be run in May. This time the participants will meet the writer who dares to address important themes, write what she really thinks and ask difficult questions. Her language and literary style will meet the most sophisticated critic’s tastes. The author is Sylwia Chutnik who will share her expertise in writing a good column.

  • 20-21 May – Miłosz Festival 2017 workshop

The Miłosz Festival invites to a free two-day workshop for bloggers and critics. The workshop will be run by Paulina Małochleb – a literary critic and researcher, the Secretary of the Wisława Szymborska Award.   • 21 May from 3:00 pm on – The Second Life of a Book

In May, book lovers will have the opportunity to participate in a book swap in the Pavilion Powiśle 11. The rules have remained unchanged: just bring one to ten books with you. Publications issued before 1995 can we swapped for books published until 1995. If you bring a new book with you, you can choose whatever you like from new and older volumes.

  • 25-26 May – Jan Błoński Festival

On the 30the anniversary of the publication of Błoński’s essay Biedni Polacy patrzą na getto (The Poor Poles Look at the Ghetto), the festival will focus on the importance of literature and literary criticism of collective and individual remembrance. Meetings and discussions will be devoted to the image of the Shoah and the place of history in modern literature and to similar themes.
