Emma Zafon holds a Bachelor of Arts in Journalism from the Autonomous University of Barcelona and also she was awarded a Master’s Degree in Communication, and a Master’s Degree in Secondary Education Teaching. She has worked in various local and regional newsrooms in Spain and Andorra, having covered news concerning political, economic, social, and cultural issues. She published several pieces from Argentina, Colombia and Moldova. In 2024, Emma Zafon was awarded by the Network of Rural Journalists of Spain. Now, she is working as an ICT (Information and Communication Technician) at the Barcelona City Council, and also is a regular contributor to independent publications like El Salto and La Directa.
Her literary career started in 2016 with the publication of novel written in Spanish No iba a salir y me lié [I wasn’t going out but look what happened!] published by Roca Editorial in Barcelona and dealt with socio-cultural movement of electronic music that marked a turning point during the 80s in València. Her second book was written in Catalan and was named Casada i callada [Married and keeping quiet] – published by prestigious publishing house Empúries in 2023, where readers can explore the life of a rural woman, born and raised during Franco’s dictatorship, who suffers gender violence from her Husband.
