Children’s Day in Krakow UNESCO City of Literature

A literary walk and a meeting with a hero of Adam Wajrak’s new book. The prospects for the Children’s Day in Krakow UNESCO City of Literature look promising. We have planned a rich literary programme of events. On nearest Saturday (27 May) you are invited to a family literary walk of Krakow along with the trail of children’s literature. On the Children’s Day (1 June) there will be a meeting with Adam Wajrak and the hero of his new book Lolek – the dog , at 11 Powiśle Street. On that day follow the profile: Krakow UNESCO City of Literature. Look for a competition with book awards. Expect surprises!

On 27 May, at 5.00 pm, families with children are invited to a walk along the children’s literature trail. We invite children and grown-ups who still remember how it is like to be a child. We will walk around Krakow retracing children’s literature. We will revisit the books by Antonina Domańska, the author of”Paziowie króla Zygmunta and Historia żółtej ciżemki, and of Jadwiga Żylińska who wrote the story about the alchemist Sędziwój; we will also reach for works by contemporary writers, such as. Dorota Terakowska and Barbara Gawryluk. Łucja Malec-Kornajew from Fishka Krakow Tours will be our guide.

Participation in the walks is free of charge but you need to register. Please send your application by e-mail to the following address: spacery@miastoliteratury.pl, only the last free places have been left.

On the 1st of June at 4:00 pm we invite all families, and in particular those with pets, to a meeting with Adam Wajrak – a journalist, a naturalist, and an author of books for children and adults (e.g. Przewodniki prawdziwych tropicieli, Wilki and, jointly with Tomasz Samojlik, Umarły Las). He lives in the Bialowieża Forest. The meeting will be held in Metaforma café at Powiśle 11 Pavilion. We will talk about the friendship between humans and animals and about how one day a dog appeared in Adam Wajrak’s life. He still lives with the author in Teremiski, and was a model for the lead character of the book. The meeting will be combined with the premiere of Wajrak’s book Lolek. The book was issued under the patronage of Krakow UNESCO City of Literature. The meeting will be moderated by Anna Zygmunt, the Literary Department of the Krakow Festival Office – the operator of the Krakow UNESCO City of Literature programme.

The meeting is open for families with children of all ages. Pets are welcome!
