In 2016, the 26th Jewish Culture Festival revolved around the topics of diaspora and Shabbat. A strong point in the programme was a literary block, organised for the second time by the Krakow Festival Office, operator of the UNESCO City of Literature Programme. We discussed otherness and community in the times of immigration crisis; recalled important Polish women of the 20th century – Stefania Wilczyńska and Zuzanna Ginczanka; presented Marek Edelman’s biography in English and Święto trąbek – Marta Masada’s dazzling debut.
The literary block at the festival was enriched by events for the youngest – Tuesday workshops against hate speech and ethnographic workshops at Ogniwo Collective as well as group work on the breadboard of a multicultural shtetl.
