Poet Ewa Lipska in Writers’ Avenue

The renowned poet, doctor honoris causa of the Jan Kochanowski University in Kielce, former editor of the poetry department at Dekada Literacka bimonthly – Ewa Lipska – was honoured with her own plaque in the Writers’ Avenue. It is a unique place nearby the Oświęcim library where outstanding authors are commemorated.
Ewa Lipska graduated from the Faculty of Painting at the Academy of Fine Arts in Krakow, but her artistic interests soon turned to poetry. All in all,  she has published more than 20 volumes, including Żywa śmierć (Living Death, 1979), Dom Spokojnej Młodości (Young People’s Home, 1979), Nie o śmierć tutaj chodzi, lecz o biały kordonek (It’s not about Death but about White Filoselle, 1982), Wakacje mizantropa (Misanthrope on Holidays, 1993) and Stypendyści czasu (Scholars of Time).The poet was many times winner Polish and Austrian PEN Club awards. She also received the Kościelski Award.
So far 4 such plaques have been installed in the Alley, promoting the work of Andrzej Stasiuk, Marek Bieńczyk and Janusz Głowacki.
