On 12 May 2107 we visited Svět knihy, i.e. the Prague Book Fair. Among other things, literary gadgets from Krakow were available at special UNESCO Cities of Literature stands.
We participated in the panel debate with the partner city of Krakow in the UNESCO City of Literature– with our gracious hosts from the Czech Republic along with the representatives of Barcelona, Nottingham and Lviv. We talked among other things, about the benefits from the participation in the Creative Cities programme for the community, its image and the economics, the importance of integrating diverse forms of literary life, on the roles of programme coordinators in each city and on how to promote readership in the Smartphone era.
The role of Krakow in the steering committee of the UNESCO Cities of Literature was highlighted, setting the city’s effort to implement the Krakow UNESCO City of Literature programme and evaluation as a model.
